About us
THE FELSS GROUP
The Felss Group is a solution provider in the field of cold forming of metallic tubes and solid materials for the automotive industry. As lightweight construction experts, we develop optimal, sustainable solutions and processes for our customers: from product development and machines to the finished part in component production. Around 700 employees are already working with our customers today on the challenges of tomorrow. And they do so worldwide at our seven locations in Germany, Switzerland, the USA, China and Slovakia.
A holistic competence in the industry through Make & Buy–Felss supplies individual solutions for in-house production or the purchase of components. Here, Felss Systems stands for Make, i.e. mechanical engineering, including prototyping and engineering as well as their advanced development and implementation. Felss Rotaform stands for Buy and thus for the entire spectrum of component manufacturing with a global, energy-saving footprint, even in large-scale production.
Since May 2019, the traditional company HMP has been a part of the Felss Group, with headquarters in Königsbach-Stein. HMP is considered a specialist in rolling technology and thus adds another benefit to the Felss Group's range of services. The rolling technology is firmly integrated in the Felss Group and appears under the brand name HMP ROLLING.
Our ambition is to convince customers from different industries with resource-efficient, highly resilient and precise products. Whether for the automotive industry, medical technology, aviation or precision mechanics: Felss is a strong partner in the processing of metallic materials such as steel, aluminum or titanium along the entire process chain. From the blank to the ready-to-install component.
The right process for every requirement.
With our know-how in cold forming and many years of experience in the construction of machines for tube processing, Felss offers the appropriate technologies, processes and solutions for all problems.
Rotary swaging
The rotary swaging cold forming process enables the efficient and economical production of lightweight components. Several tool segments strike a workpiece simultaneously, repeating the process in quick succession. The material starts to flow and is formed with a high level of precision. The process is suitable for forming all kinds of external and internal geometries. The distinguishing feature of this technology is the way it allows maximum design freedom for visible and non-visible components alike. Rotary swaging is characterized by a wide range of forms and different degrees of deformation. It offers a much broader range of possibilities than most other cold forming processes. For instance, it is just as suitable for hose connection manufacturing as for the rapid, high-precision production of steering shafts, drive shafts, airbag cylinders or adjustment wheel drives.
Axial Forming
Axial forming is benifitial in lots of different applications but it is particularly beneficial for high-quality spline components requiring economical production processes. With the axial forming process, all spline dimensions are specified with maximum precision. Given that the teeth are an exact copy of the tool, there is absolutely no risk of pitch errors. The profiles are highly precise and the root circle radius is fully symmetrical, thereby increasing the fatigue strength considerably. Each component is produced within short process times and – in contrast to manufacturing processes that rely on cutting – the components become stronger as a result of the process.
Tube+
The Tube+ process developed by Felss is the first of its kind to allow partial tube thickening by cold forming. The process is used to complete preliminary steps with a view to simplifying other steps further along the process chain. It can be used to supplement rotary swaging or as an alternative to it.
HMP Rolling
Since acquiring the HMP companies in 2019, the Felss product portfolio now also includes a wide variety of rolling systems and technologies. Wire reduction rolling, flat and profile wire rolling, ultra-precision rolling, strip rolling or sectional rolling.

AXIAL FORMING MACHINES AFH
Thanks to the patented system, the AFH machines offer a reduction in axial forces, allowing extremely thin-walled tubes to be serrated. The AFH machines therefore offer long tool life and short cycle times for economical production. The machine can be optionally equipped with additional stations, such as a de-oiling unit or multiple testing devices, or even integrated into a transfer system. The machines in the product family are available with and without a mandrel device, enabling the precise production of thin-walled components. The components can be fed either via the feed unit or directly via a robot.
ROTARY SWAGING MACHINES FR
The rotary swaging machines in the FR product family can be operated purely by manually feeding the workpieces. The machines are characterized by their simple operation and are easy to use. With the various machine types (FR0.1-FR40), different component sizes can be produced easily and cost-effectively.
ROTARY SWAGING MACHINE GENERATION E4.0
Energy-saving rotary kneading
The e4.0 generation is extremely fast and flexible. The latest generation of Felss rotary swaging machines is electrically powered, enabling significant energy savings and a reduction in the amount of oil required during operation. It offers shorter set-up times, high adaptability and simple process control. The e4.0 generation is also Industry 4.0-capable and accommodates various digital applications.
WIRE REDUCERS
State-of-the-art machine technology for minimum non-productive time and maximum output quantity
With this technology, a high reduction in the cross-section of the incoming wire can be achieved. During production, the material is processed horizontally and vertically alternately with the aid of profiled rolling rings. Various geometries / profile shapes can be created, e.g. round, oval, rectangular, octagonal, hexagonal.
