The company IMS Messsysteme GmbH develops and produces isotope, x-ray and optical measuring systems for industrial use in the steel, aluminium and non-ferrous metal industries. Our head office is located in Heiligenhaus, Germany. High-precision technology requires a maximum focus on quality. We have worked continuously on developing our products further and improving the qualifications of our staff ever since our company was established in 1980. The technical competency we have accumulated as a result, paired with modern technology, enables us to implement highend custom-built and needs-orientated solutions. Products and services

IMS is the world market leader in measuring systems of x-ray, isotope and optical gauging systems for the steel, aluminium and non-ferrous industries. Steel and aluminium strip, sheets and tubes, for example, are measured continuously using non-contact data acquisition. The following values are measured by IMS gauging systems in, for example, the field of hot and cold-rolled flat products: strip centre thickness, thickness cross profile, edge drop, wedge and crown, strip contour, strip flatness, strip width, strip position, longitudinal and cross-sectional temperature profile and strip speed. In the field of tubes IMS gauging systems allow measurement of wall thickness, eccentricity, diameter, position, temperature and speed, and in the field of refined products IMS coat gauging systems are used to regulate process control and to measure coat profiles and coat thickness. Another focal points are the 3D-surface inspection and the force measuring systems.
Surface Inspection surcon 3D Tube

In tube production, surface defects are often perpetuated through the complete process chain. Non-stop surface inspection from billet to finished tube is therefore critical for the quality of the final product. With “surcon 3D Tube” inspection system, IMS provides tube manufacturers with another high-quality measurement tool. The system allows to detect surface defects at a much earlier stage in the rolling process than before and to counteract them early by means of concrete corrective measures

High-resolution Tube Diameter Profile Measurement

To meet the stricter demands for transparency in the rolling process and maximum accuracy in measurement we use high-precision laser triangulation sensors.Through synchronization of the individual sensors among each other, the measured data of all sensors are outputted
simultaneously at measuring rates in millisecond range, resulting in a distortion-free representation of the outside profile of the tube.
